Gah, economics
P: ( (-100, +inf), ~), given that a~b = (a+100)(b+100)/100 - 100

Do you agree that this is a pretty stupid group?

I don't really know what it's all about, but.... is it over zero???
Why do you think it's stupid?

No, no. It's the group of percentages under multiplication, which is isomorphic to them much more elegant group of positive reals under multiplication.

Okay! I've got a bit of time, so here goes. A group is an algebraic construct with one operation, which basically behaves like multiplication in the positive real numbers or addition in the integers - it obeys four requirements. Those are closure (operation on any two elements in the group gives another group element), associativity ((a op b) op c = a op (b op c)), identity (there's an e so e op a = a op e = a for all a) and inverse.

The percentages used in multiplication behave exactly like that - for instance, 50% times 50% is 125%. But this is counterintuitive and inelegant, and it's equivalent to just multiplying the positive reals.

ah ha! Chess by correspondence shall begin!

I'd like to play black if I may! It gives me more time to calculate my moves!

No wonder I'm confused!
But now I see where I went wrong! My f7 should have been an f6! Is it possible to pretend it was an f6 all along?

Oh well. Now I just have to work out a way to get rid of your queen don't I.
While you wait the ages it will take for me to make my move, I'll do some of this telling you about myself...

Lets see. What on earth can I tell you. Oh mundane trivia I suppose. My Date of Birth is 04/06/1985, that makes me a gemini. I study English at university with minors in Philosophy and History. Those would be my strong points. Math's would be one of my low points. In fact the lowest. I slow the whole party down when we play D&D because it takes me a good 3 minutes to add up the damage on the dice I've rolled...
From that last statement I'm sure you can gather that I play Dungeons and Dragons... I also play a lot of video games, especially real time strategies!
I'm an aspiring author, I tend to write a lot of fantasy...
I enjoy mapping as well, as in, drawing up castle citadels or coast lines or whatever tickles my fancy.
Oh and obviously I'm not much better at chess with a real chess board in front of me either! ^^

That's not maths - for one thing, it involves numbers! Though learning to count might help.

I noticed your playing lots of RTS! I mentioned it to Danika as something about which I intend to speak with you!

Ask me some questions! Arbitrarily many.

Alright,
What kind of music do you like?
What international cuisine would you say is your favourite?
Do you have any siblings?
What sort of animals do you like?
Have you ever been horse riding?
What is the weather currently like where you are?

I tend not to like music.

I don't know!

I don't have any siblings.

I like people.

I have never been horse riding.

It is foggy, and perhaps overcast!

Ask more!

Well I think your answers are lacking a little!

What sort of people do you like and why don't you like any animals?
Why do you tend not to like music? As an amateur musician it baffles me when people dislike music! It's so likeable!

If you had to chose one culinary dish to make for someone else, what would you chose?

When is your birthday? How old are you? Do you like the beach? Do you prefer hot or cold weather? If you had to pick one country to visit tomorrow on some sort of lovely spontaneous holiday what would it be?
What career do you intend to have upon completion of your studies?
Why are you so good at chess!?!?!?
